Diving Certification in Okinawa: What's Included in the Affordable Course?
Whether you take a diving certification course in Okinawa at a low cost or in another area, there is no difference in the course content, the number of dives, or the passing criteria.
The diving certification course is divided into two sections: classroom instruction and practical training.
Since you can complete the classroom instruction and tests in advance via e-learning, you can focus entirely on the practical training while in Okinawa.
The practical training consists of confined-water training and open-water training.
Confined water refers to the ocean or a beach in an environment similar to a pool. It is an area where you can touch the bottom and where conditions are calm both on the surface and underwater.
Open-water training is conducted in the ocean at depths of 5 meters or deeper. You will never be asked to put on your gear and dive underwater right away. We strictly follow the sequence: land training → confined water → open water. Let’s move on to the next step only after you’ve mastered each one calmly and confidently.
Now, let me briefly introduce the types of exercises we’ll actually be doing.

But actually, the techniques for all the skills are surprisingly simple. Even though they’re simple, when you get in the water, a mix of nervousness and excitement makes it hard to perform them as well as you’d like—that’s what your first lesson is like. It’s okay to take it slow and easy at first.
Once you’ve mastered the basic skills, on the second day of the course, we can also take you out on a boat to conduct the training at dive sites in the Kerama Islands.

Diving Certification in Okinawa: Low-Cost Options—How Do I Meet Up on the Day of the Course?
Our diving certification courses include free transportation. On the first day of the course, practical training will be held at a dedicated diving certification facility in Naha City. Therefore, to qualify for free transportation, you must be staying in one of the areas listed below.
- Naha Area* The Naha area south of the airport and the Shuri area are excluded.
- Urasoe Area
If you plan to stay in another area, please contact us in advance. We will do our best to accommodate your needs by changing the event location or adjusting the schedule.
Diving Certification in Okinawa: Affordable—Is it okay if I don't have my own gear?
Please rest assured that the price includes all the equipment needed to obtain your diving certification. We’ll ask for your height and other measurements in advance so we can prepare equipment that fits you properly. For those who feel the cold easily or who book during the winter season, we’ll also provide warm undergarments such as hooded vests. Prescription masks are also available. If you have poor vision but are uncomfortable wearing contact lenses, please let us know in advance.
We clean and disinfect the mouthpieces, but if you’d like a brand-new one, you can exchange it for 1,000 yen. Of course, after completing the course, you can take it home as your own mouthpiece.
Diving Certification in Okinawa: Affordable Options—What Should I Bring on the Day of the Course?
All you need are drinks, lunch, a towel, a swimsuit, and sandals. If needed, please bring sunscreen and motion sickness medication as well.From November through the end of March, both the air and water temperatures drop. Specifically, from January through February, the water temperature ranges from 20 to 21 degrees, and the air temperature ranges from 12 to 17 degrees. Since you’ll get wet, it will feel colder than the air temperature suggests. We’ll provide winter wetsuits, hooded vests, and warm boat coats, but we recommend bringing your own fleece or hoodie to stay warm—this will help you feel more comfortable while earning your diving certification.
